I thought Delph said he was staying at Villa ?
Having a medical at City?

Sky sources understand Fabian Delph has had a medical ahead of a proposed move to Manchester City - just days after apparently turning down a move.

Delph was photographed entering a south Manchester clinic frequently used by City for player medicals earlier on Friday afternoon.

Manchester City triggered the £8m release fee in Delph's contract last week but the Aston Villa captain turned down a move to the Etihad before releasing a statement saying "I'm not leaving, I'm staying at the football club."

Cunts the lot of them

I agree. But, still massive question marks over how much playing time. Could see his England chances diminish if he isn't a regular.

But, then again, he will be up against Fernando and Fernandinho so should be ok.

More money, playing with better footballers, champions league, chance to win trophies. He'd be an idiot not to go.

Can't be for his England ambitions as he is getting plenty of playing time under Hodgson so I suspect privately he was assured about Benteke staying and then the Club sold him, although as said below it was fairly obvious Benteke would be off sooner rather than later.

City obviously need him to increase their English quota but whilst he is a decent player, certainly not quality enough to push them to the next level, especially if Pellegrini persists with his 442 preference.

Obviously ill advised with his comments but not the first and won't be the last. Seem to remember a young fella years ago ill advisedly posing in a Man United shirt and it came back to bite him!!!

"as one of our better midfielders i'd have thought he needs to be cut some slack. cunts like Terry have done far worse and are still media darlings."

Spot on. Not crime of the century is it. Just, for me, once again, it's a case of a player being a bit silly and saying too much. He has obviously been very badly advised.

He is a better player than Fernando and Fernandinho, so he will get plenty of playing time.

Re: I thought Delph said he was staying at Villa ?
i'd say its fuck all to do with money. he's obviously now been given some assurances about a starting birth.

the issue is he turned it down, came out with all that loyalty stuff, and then went. if he'd a have just not said anything and then signed im sure villa fans wouldnt have had a massive issue.

delph doesnt strike me as a typical footballer. as one of our better midfielders i'd have thought he needs to be cut some slack. cunts like Terry have done far worse and are still media darlings.

Heard in the press that he was told Benteke wouldn't be sold and then subsequently was / going to be today.

I think it was common knowledge that Benteke would be sold so can't see this myself. Maybe something put out there by his agent to soften the impact on Delph and turn the fans towards the club?

Who know's. But, for me, it's another transfer that leaves a bitter taste. Very poor show by some players and agents this summer.

I just don’t get why he said he would stay - why did the club let him release the statement saying he’ll stay.

I think it’s down to him being a greedy little cunt.

Does anyone believe a player when they say they'll say, love the club and all that bollocks? Only ones who care are us mug punters in the stand.

He'll be in the Villa team playing the Everton one captained by Wayne "I'll always be a Blue" Rooney...

What's your problem in life?

I won't sink to your level but you come across as bitter, twisted and highly envious of everyone. Maybe you should look at yourself before you come on here constantly disagreeing with other people's OPINIONS?

Fernando and fernandinho are both shit.

I reckon Delph will get plenty of game time.

Pagey - They are one of the RICHEST clubs in the world, yet they still can't even get out of their group in the Champions League. Big club, you say? They are NOT a 'big club' and nowhere near one of the biggest in the world, I don't think they have ever even won a European trophy. To even compare them to Man Utd is fucking laughable.

Now I know you think that your shit doesn't stink, but you have got this one wrong.

He labelled Man City as 'one of the biggest clubs in the world' is he THAT ignorant or was it a soundbite? They're not even the biggest club in Manchester.

I think you'll find Private that Manchester City are the ONLY club in Manchester

He will be on loan to someone like us next season.

Re: I thought Delph said he was staying at Villa ?
I understand when people say that Delph shouldn't go as he will just be a sub and so on, but Delph himself will naturally believe that he's good enough to be a regular and it would be a huge decision to turn a club like that down. He simply has to give it a go if he has any ambition at all.

I'm sure Scott Sinclair told him its a great club and to go for it.

No logic in that decision other than money

Man City are one of the biggest clubs in England which has one of the best leagues in the world. Therefore Man City are obviously one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Manchester has two of the biggest clubs in the world. How is he being ignorant by saying that?
